Harry McCrory - 1895

Harry McCrory was the coach of West Virginia’s first successful gridiron squad that won five of six games in 1895 against a fairly formidable schedule that included a narrow, 4-0 loss to rival Washington & Jefferson. The Penn graduate had and outstanding group of players that season including the legendary Fielding “Hurry Up” Yost. McCory was the last University professor assigned to coach the team without any compensation.
